Grace’s second short term trip team made it safe and sound to Ukraine yesterday. We arrived with no hassles at all, all of our bags, perhaps a bit of sleepiness, but otherwise in good shape. We checked into our hotel in Zhytomir after a 2-hour bus ride. We then had a pleasant walk to the MTU office and had a wonderful dinner with some of the MTU staff – Ira, Valya, Alexandra, Cindy, and Oksana. What a dinner! We then had our tour of the new offices and playground – MTU has done quite a bit of work since I was here 8 years ago! The playground was so impressive: the woodwork, soccer field, flowers, fire place, play gym . . . wow! We just missed some strong thunderstorms, but had a very nice walk back to the hotel, and promptly crashed in bed.
So we’re off, and so happy to be here. Today we had devotions with the MTU staff at the office, and then are headed off to the Romanov Boys’ orphanage, and a couple of house visits in one of the villages. And then we’ll head off to camp to get ready for the 8 days ahead with our campers. We’ll do some team building activities with the MTU team tonight. Should be fun! Thanks so much for praying for us. And please pray for Betsy’s grandfather. He is in the hospital and not doing well. Pray for peace for Betsy while she is gone, and that God would preserve his life at least while we are gone.
