A group of eager and adventurous students and adults are Ukraine-bound from Indianapolis, Indiana! Some of us have never left the country, while others are regular old Lewis-and-Clark-style-world-travelers. Nonetheless, we’re all stoked to be a part of a team that will spread love to a different country and culture. While in the Ukraine, we will be working alongside the staff and volunteers of Mission to Ukraine, Inc to provide a camp experience for children with special needs and members of their families. This will be the seventh year MTU has offered the camp for these special needs kids and the fifth time a team from Grace Community Church has participated.
MTU was founded in 1997 by a pastor from the US and 3 Ukrainian young women. Their mission is to love the poor, marginalized, voiceless and hurting people of Ukraine into a vital and maturing relationship with Christ by first meeting practical and tangible physical, medical and material needs. MTU operates primarily two ministries. First, the Crisis Pregnancy Center assists and counsels young women with crisis pregnancies to choose life for their children instead of abortion. MTU assists them materially through their LifeSavers program and always strives to love them in the name of Christ. Second, they run a ministry that serves children with special needs and their families. They offer summer camps, weekly rehab sessions, Bible classes and provide material assistance for the families through the Handfuls of Purpose program. Many other opportunities arise to serve the poor, marginalized and hurting people of the region via these ministries.
Our team will be working with the Ukrainian staff to provide a fun and purposeful camp experience for the kids with disabilities along with their families. We will stay on site with them and participate in all aspects of camp. This website is a place where you can be updated with the daily happenings of our journey. We hope to blog and post photos/video at least once a day. We all will strive to dive deeper into the stories these wonderful people are telling through their lives. Please use this blog as a resource and sounding board to communicate with our team. Also, please pray for our team, the Ukrainian staff at MTU and the children and mothers that we will be spending time with and showing God’s love to while we’re over there. And please share this site with others as we all yearn to listen, love and serve each other for the greater good and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.

Looking forward to seeing what God does!
It has been great to follow your journey in Ukraine. I am so excited for each and everyone of you and I am sure God is using you in so many ways to change these Ukrainian lives. I have a couple of quick things to share – first off – I found out that my next door neighbor (who happened to support me a great deal of my Ukraine trip last year) was on the flight with you guys from Chicago to Germany. What a small world! Also Megan and Kalen- I was driving home the other night at like 1:30 and the song Space Inbetween Us came on the radio. Literally the first time I’ve heard it since Ukraine. I just found all this stuff a little ironic. Anyways I can’t wait to hear all your stories and to see what amazing things God used you to do. Love you all!
